Danijela Levacic, MD Appointed as Neuro-Oncologist at North Shore-LIJ’s Cushing Neuroscience Institute

North Shore-LIJ’s Cushing Neuroscience Institute today announced that Danijela Levacic, MD, has been appointed as an attending neuro-oncologist and assistant professor of neurology at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.  Dr. Levacic will practice at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY.

Dr. Levacic, a Great Neck resident, received her medical degree from the University of Zagreb in Croatia.  Upon coming to the United States, Dr. Levacic dedicated three years to clinical research in pain medicine at New York University School of Medicine.  She later went on to complete her internship in internal medicine at Long Island College Hospital and her residency in neurology at the JFK New Jersey Neuroscience Institute.  In addition, Dr. Levacic completed a fellowship in neuro-oncology at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Medical Center.

Dr. Levacic is the author of numerous abstracts and publications, including book chapters on malignant meningiomas and cancer pain syndromes.  Within neuro-oncology, Dr. Levacic is particularly interested in primary brain tumors. Her other interests include cancer pain and quality of life.

Dr. Levacic is a member of the Society of Neuro-Oncology and the American Academy of Neurology.
