North Shore-LIJ’s Cushing Neuroscience Institute Announces Appointments of Two Neurologists and an Epileptologist

North Shore-LIJ’s Cushing Neuroscience Institute (CNI) today announced the appointments of Chilvana Patel, MD and Daniel B. Rubin, MD, Ph.D. as attending neurologists and Zianka Fallil, MD as an attending epileptologist.  

Dr. Patel received her medical degree from the NHL Municipal Medical College and completed her residency training in internal medicine at BJ Medical College, both in Gujarat, India.  Upon coming to the United States, Dr. Patel completed a preliminary one-year residency training in internal medicine at Maimonides Hospital, followed by a residency training in neurology and a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH).  Dr. Patel’s specialties include neuromuscular disease, electromyography and nerve conduction.

Dr. Rubin received his medical degree and Ph.D. in pharmacology from SUNY Downstate and completed a two-year internal medicine residency and a three-year neurology residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJMC).  Most recently, Dr. Rubin served as director of neurology at the Queens-Long Island Medical Group.  Dr. Rubin’s interests include general neurology, neuropharmacology and education.  In his new role as attending neurologist at CNI, Dr. Rubin will also hold the title of neurohospitalist at LIJMC, which will include supervision of neurology residents caring for patients presenting with neurologic disorders.

Dr. Fallil received her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completed her residency training in neurology at Columbia University Medical Center.  She then completed a two-year fellowship in neurophysiology, with an emphasis on epilepsy research and surgical treatments for epilepsy, at NYU Langone Medical Center.  Dr. Fallil’s specialties include seizure disorders, electrophysiology, surgical treatments for epilepsy, cortical stimulation mapping, neuroimaging and genetics in epilepsy.
