The February 2013 issue of Neurosurgeon, published by The American Association of Neurologic Surgeons (AANS), has been nominated by Folio Magazine as an “Eddie/Ozzie” award finalist for best standalone digital magazine.

The “Eddie/Ozzie” awards are among the most prestigious awards given to those in the publishing field.  This year, more than 2,300 entries were reviewed and 500 were selected as finalists in various categories.

Michael Schulder, MD, FAANS, vice chair, neurosurgery at North Shore University Hospital and director of the Brain Tumor Center at North Shore-LIJ’s Cushing Neuroscience Institute, has served as editor of AANS Neurosurgeon for the past two years.

“The editorial team at the AANS Neurosurgeon is extremely delighted to receive this prestigious nomination,” said Dr. Schulder.  “It is a testament to the dedication of the AANS staff and the neurosurgical editorial committee who work on the publication as we continue to focus on such issues as socioeconomic changes in medicine, changing practices driven by technological developments, and the evolving role of physicians in society. (And sometimes we also want our readers to just have a little fun!)”

The winner in the “Best Standalone Digital Magazine” category, along with winners in all other categories, will be announced during a breakfast award program on December 5, 2013, in New York City.
